"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet"

Asteria Florals; Why that name?
Branding and name a business is hard work. Probably one of the most indecisive moments of my journey so far.
I knew I didn't want anything with my name in it, I couldn't name it after my babies, I have three and it felt like being asked which one is my favourite child. so I look inwards a little bit, what inspires me? What grounds me? Why do I like a meaning behind things? Leading myself back to nature, with a walk among the trees, I began thinking of the language of flowers, the meanings, the seasons, mythology and solar and celestial interests.
Asteria Florals started off as Aster and Dandelion. I loved this name a lot, but it didn't feel right, So I had a tweak and changed to Daisy and Dandelion Florals. Again I felt I was close but it still wasn't sitting right with me. I couldn't get the logo right, the title felt long, but I loved the dandelion representing the sun, moon and stars. ( One of my tattoos, i love dandelions)
After listening to a few podcasts I decided to just rebrand and Asteria Florals was born.
So we understand Florals for flower design...
But what does the Asteria stand for?
ASTERIA in greek mythology is the Titan goddess of falling stars and nighttime divination through dreams and the stars.
How does this link to flowers?
Well it came to me in my sleep, I woke up and my first thought was to search Mythology. I really loved Aster in the original name. Aster is a September Birth month flower, representing myself within the shop, along with its own language,
After a quick google search right there was Asteria, a Titan no less and with her attributes it certainly links to the dandelion for the celestial meaning.
Not, to sound cheesy, but as a person I thrive on turning your florals dreams, into reality, I can see your vision and want to bring it to life. So all these little elements led me to Asteria Florals.
I hope that little insight into the name helps you connect with my vision for my flower shop,
how the bouquet names will link and the aesthetic I aim for.
Thanks for Reading
Next time I will be looking into some of my favourite flowers and their meanings.
